Broadband Without Boundaries

Established in 2004, WISPA – the Association for Broadband Without Boundaries – is the Industry Association for innovative companies that deliver fixed wireless, fiber, and other reliable connectivity solutions to millions of Americans in rural, unserved, under-resourced, and Tribal parts of the United States. WISPA founded the WISPA Educational Institute (WEI) in 2020 to create, organize, strengthen and share resources in the industry we serve.

WHO WE ARE

The WISPA Educational Institute (WEI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which helps WISPs deliver essential connectivity to the markets they serve. WEI provides an open platform for industry leaders to share vital information, create comprehensive best practices, produce state-of-the-art training and education resources, and enable charitable giving to related causes – all designed to constantly improve WISP operations and their delivery of broadband to millions of individuals across the nation.

Every American deserves access to the Internet no matter where they live. WISPs play an integral role in keeping all connected, especially in hard-to-serve areas of the country. WEI supplies the tools and know-how to foster reliable, resilient and evolutionary access services for today and tomorrow’s needs.

In 1997, Matt Larsen saw an opportunity to bring internet access where it was not – in rural Nebraska. Taking some seed money from his father and friends, Matt meticulously built his network, eventually founding Vistabeam in 2004, which now serves approximately 8,000 residents via mostly wireless connectivity throughout the tri-state area of Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.
